Frequently Asked Questions about RallySport
|

Frequently Asked Questions regarding organized commercially sponsored
road-rallies.
1) If its too good to be true, it usually is. Why do I think that this RallySport
thing is "too good to be true"?
A) In 1947 a commercialized motor sport organization was created. People said it
was "too good to be true and folks are not going to sit and watch cars race
around and around a dirt track. The first event featured a $5,000 purse and the
event was held on a two-mile circular course in southern Florida followed by a
150 mile race at the three-quarter-mile Charlotte Speedway in which Jim Roper of
Great Bend, Kan., was the winner. Today that organization is called NASCAR.
2) How can this kind of racing be legal?
A) The California Highway Patrol as well as other police agencies are working
closely with Hyperformance MotorSports to insure that RallySport is approved by
their public safety standards. Southern California Police and Sheriff
departments have been notified and formally contacted regarding RallySport
rules and its participants codes of conduct and have overwhelmingly approved
of a commercially sponsored precision driving competition.
RallySport is not "racing" but is considered "competitive precision driving". The
basic rules and principles of Time, Speed, Distance (TSD) road rallies takes the
urge to race out of the equation to win. In RallySport you can be the first to leave
and the last to return and still win. RallySport is checkpoint-to-checkpoint
driving. Now intelligence shared between two people, driving and navigation
skills and the cars ability to perform is put into the equation to WIN.
3) I never did or witnessed anything other than street racing why should I
do this new RallySport thing?
A) RallySport is not new. Road rallies have been around since 1897 orginially
created in Paris, France. RallySport is legal. Street Racing is not.
RallySport takes place during the day. Street Racing does not. RallySport
will give you Rock Star status. RallySport and its participants are supported by
Corporate Sponsors. Street Racing will never be. Street Racing will land you in
Jail, car taken or killed in a accident. RallySport is DRIVE TO LIVE.
4) Can any kind of car class participate and what about GPS?
A) RallySport is a open event to every car class. The car is just one piece of the
winning RallySport combination. HMS is a technology friendly company,
anything goes. Some events will be filmed and produced for sale on a monthly
DVD.
5) Why do I have to be on a team?
A) RallySport is a team sport. 20 cars per team x 12 teams (240 cars) per
RallySport city. All teams have names, logo's, uniforms and colors. Each team
can develop its own sponsorship network.
6) How much does RallySport cost?
A) For the unsponsored, RallySport cost $375.00 per event. Your RallySport Agent
can apply current sponsorship benefits over 50% discount in registration fees
and additional perks. (i.e. free checkpoint fees $45.00 value, free gas per
event). The RallySport Agent is the most powerful person in RallySport. He/she
is responsible for getting his client's paid to DRIVE TO LIVE in RallySport.

Oregon. Each event will vary in size depending on the start and finishing points.
From street closings and event booths, spectator bleachers, low rider and
classic car shows, to mini bikes races and live music. HMS' goal is to create a
motor sport spectacle that is worthy of large corporate sponsorship support.
8) Can I choose my agent?
A) There will be 3 RallySport Agents to choose from. During pre-season events,
(February & March 2010) Drivers and Navigators may switch teams and
RallySport Agents if they choose. This benefit is ended once the regular season
starts.
9) How important is sponsorship?
A) RallySport Sponsorship support is crucial to the survial of the sport. Similiar to
the NBA, NFL, MLB and NASCAR Sponsorship revenue is the life blood of the
sport. RallySport participants will reap the financial benefits with large monetary
cash purse prizes ($50,000.00+ in 2010 Rally Fuzion season), widely circulated
video footage and Rock Star treatment.

driving competition.
RALLYSPORT HISTORY
In 1897, Jules Verne created road rallies and was know as the father of the rally
when he invented "Around the World in Eighty Days."
Phineas Fogg ran one of the world's longest rallies - the "find your own route" kind
- with only his time limit at the finish line to worry about. That he came in under the
deadline is history ...and the fact that he was his own navigator (he didn't have to
do any driving) is firmly established.
Road Rallies are the oldest motor sport known to man. There are many versions
of the sport but the most prominent are Time, Speed, Distance rallies.
Not so well recorded is the history of more conventional rallies - the kind that use
automobiles - but it is known that competitive events were held in Europe before
the turn of the 20th century. And in the United States, just after the turn of the
century, early efforts such as the Glidden Tours were forerunners of this currently
popular form of automotive sport.
Now competitive road rallies have emerged in Southern California with a new twist
using TSD rules. Drivers can qualify on 8 routes around Southern California.
Names are being submitted for the 2010 RallySport Draft. Please bring a friend to
act as a co-driver if you are going to try your driving and navigation skills.
